Is it time to transition to a nursing home?

Knowing the Right Time Can Be Challenging

Deciding whether or not it's time to move your parent into a nursing home is not easy. It's not uncommon to feel guilty and anxious, especially for children or grandchildren acting as caregivers for their aging loved ones.

Unfortunately, there may come the point where caregiving at home is no longer the safest or healthiest option. Monitor for these signs that it may be time to consider a nursing home:

  • You have hurt yourself lifting or moving your loved one
  • You feel burnt-out or exhausted.
  • You are neglecting other responsibilities and relationships to act as a caregiver.
  • Your own health is declining.
  • Your loved one is experiencing late-stage Alzheimers or other medical concerns that require specialized care.
  • You have financial concerns due to quitting work, paying for at-home care, or covering medical costs for your aging family member.
  • Your loved one has wandered away from home or put themselves or others in danger due to memory loss or loss of awareness

Still Unsure?

If you are still unsure whether or not now is the right time to transition your loved one into a nursing home, get in touch. We'll help you understand some of the signs and signals that a transition might be necessary.
